Lottery Strategies

It's something that many lottery players ask themselves; can the lotto be won by some lottery strategies or is it completely random? Is the person who closes their eyes and throws darts at a set of numbers as likely to win as someone who sits down and works out the mathematical possibilities of the winning numbers? The truth is, the chances of winning the lottery, especially the jackpot is extremely small. For example, the current chance of winning the Mega Millions Jackpot is 1 in 175,711,536!

Many people pick numbers randomly, perhaps choosing what is on their mind at any given time or use the random number generator offered with every lottery, where the computer will pick for you. Although there is no rule that says you won't win with randomly generated numbers, it is said that using some kind of lottery strategy, or at least looking out for strong numbers can increase your chances of picking up a prize.

So how to pick a set of numbers that will give you a good stab at picking up a prize? One of the older lottery strategies we can look at is the hot and cold number idea.

According to the method, hot numbers are ones that have been drawn recently and cold numbers are once that haven't been drawn in a while. If you were to use this method, you could visit the official lottery website and see what numbers have been drawn, usually for the last 12 months then work out which numbers to pick.

There are pros and cons to choosing numbers using this lottery strategy. On one hand, you could use this system to figure out what numbers are being drawn regularly and use this for your entry. Some numbers do seem to appear many more times than other numbers. However, these numbers may have just used up their popularity and may not appear again for a while - there's no complete guarantee that this pattern will work. Some people may prefer to go for lesser drawn numbers, figuring that they must be due a turn to appear.

There is also the Lottery wheel system. Lottery wheeling is a strategy that says that arranging the numbers you choose in a certain way will improve your chances of winning smaller prizes. In other words, it is a system that will improve your chances of picking up a number of smaller prizes, rather than aiming for the jackpot. There are three types of wheel called Full, Abbreviated and Key wheels.

The full wheel will give you the biggest set of numbers from the numbers you have chosen - therefore it is the most costly type to play with but will give you the biggest chances of winning. The most popular type of wheel is the abbreviated wheel which will give you a smaller amount of combination's but guarantees one winning ticket from the set of numbers you get. For an even more economical choice, consider the key number wheel. With this wheel you can choose just one lucky number (say your birthday) and the wheel will give you combination's that will feature your numbers of choice.

Remember when you play with the wheeling lottery strategy, you need to play within your own budget. If you are playing by yourself, you may need to use the key wheel system - if you are playing in a syndicate, you may be able to use the full wheel.

Another thing you could do is try playing using a lucky number generator based on numerology. Numerology is a system that deals with the link between numbers and mystical, physical or living things. There are many lottery number generators online that take your first and last name, then your date of birth to generate your lucky lottery numbers.

They use certain systems such as the root number of your first name, the number created by your birth date added together, the sum of your first name numbers and so on to pick numbers with some meaning to you.

There is not deep rooted scientific or mathematics fact behind this kind of number generator - but it is a lot of fun to use and takes the bother out of choosing your own lottery winning numbers!

Whichever lottery strategy you decide to use, make sure you have the belief in your numbers and remember to keep that ticket safe!

Banned Lottery Systems - So Good It Got Banned!

Anything that is too good is most often the subject of much controversy. Such is the case of the Banned lottery systems. These lottery systems have gotten so good at employing techniques in ensuring winnings for those who use them that they have also gotten the ire of the authorities. Why these authorities are concerned about the number of winnings stems from what the lotteries are all about in the first place. These lotteries, legalized around the 1960s, are actually ways by which governments raise additional revenues to support their projects and programs. If people betting on these lotteries keep on winning, then there will be not much left in terms of revenues for the government to utilize.

People betting in the lotteries are all just holding on to the hope that their number combinations will be drawn in the lotteries so that they could achieve whatever financial dreams they might have. No matter how many times these people bet in the lottery, without the skill in choosing the right number and luck on their side, their chances of winning the prize money is slim. The numbers in lotteries can be staggering. There are about one in several millions of chances that a particular number combination will win. There are varying numbers to be picked in the lotteries in every state in the United States, depending on the kind of lottery the state has sponsored. While majority of lotteries have money as prizes, there are those that offer goods as prizes. There is no guarantee that a certain numbers are to be drawn in a particular lottery. That is why lottery systems have been developed to give people an idea of what number combination could possibly be drawn next.

The banned lottery systems have been so good at coming up with techniques and mathematical computations to determine what the next winning combination will be that it has earned the ire of a number of authorities and regulatory bodies. There are those that actually ban their usage in lotteries. These banned lottery systems have been found to be successful in churning out computer-generated entries using probabilities from past performance and trends. These lottery systems have been found to result in a number of winning number combinations over several lottery systems. Raking in profits from lottery winnings has turned from an impossibility to a great possibility with these banned lottery systems.

Winning in the lotteries is because of skill and sheer luck. Both of these factors can be influenced in some way. Those without mathematical skills could certainly benefit from the use of these banned lottery systems to improve their chances of winning the prize pot. The banned lottery systems take care of computing for the probabilities on particular lottery games and then give you the possible number combinations to come out in the next draw. This capability of the banned lottery systems to give you winning numbers based on past draw results and trends is something that will allow you to take more of your share in the lottery prize pot every day.

Are You Being Misled by False Lottery Systems?

Mathematicians and statisticians are adamant that previous lottery numbers drawn have no bearing whatsoever on future lottery results. Nevertheless there are numerous sites on the web that provide systems for predicting lottery numbers.

This leads to some curious assertions. Some sites say that numbers that have appeared frequently in the past are somehow "lucky" or "hot" numbers and will therefore come up more frequently in the future. Other sites come to exactly the opposite conclusion. They say that numbers that have come up frequently in the past have somehow "had their turn" and the less frequent numbers have a better chance in the future.

They cannot both be right. The truth is that they are both wrong, say the statisticians. What is your experience? Have you tried such systems? It is very likely that you have not benefited in the slightest.

I adopt a different approach. I choose numbers and strategies that increase the SIZE of prizes I am likely to win if I do win. I do not say that I am more likely to win than anyone else; that is purely down to luck. I play in areas where my winnings are likely to be higher. Put it another way, if you had a choice between two lottery tickets both costing $1 that both had exactly the same chance of winning but the prize if one won was $1 million and the other was $10 million, which ticket would you buy? This is what is popularly known as a "no-brainer" but millions of people are getting it wrong every week.

Most people understand that lottery numbers come up in a totally random fashion. Many attempts have been made to predict lottery results, mostly by studying and analysing previous results. Mathematical and statistical theory states without doubt that such prediction systems are doomed to failure. It is just not possible to predict lottery numbers. However there are good and bad ways to play certain lotteries.

Nobody doubts that there are good poker players and bad poker players. Equally there are good blackjack players and bad blackjack players. To play these games well, to win money or not lose too much, it is necessary for the player to put some effort into learning how to play.

The same applies to the lottery, although admittedly not to the same extent. Some lotteries are purely chance and no strategy can improve your chances. However some lotteries with pari-mutuel prize funds and rollovers give knowledgeable players the edge over players who do not have this knowledge. Without the knowledge, the majority of players are selecting numbers that will inevitably pay out smaller prizes. Rollovers obviously increase prizes. This knowledge can be used to develop a logical strategy.

It is mind-blowing how many people are making a mess of playing the lottery week after week. The errors are many and various.

The biggest rip-offs are those games that pay small prizes such as Pick 3 and scratch cards. It is public knowledge that only about 50% of the money wagered is returned to the players. If you play regularly, for every $1000 you spend you will get back only $500. These odds are much worse than the pari-mutuel at the racetrack or games at your casino. The only possible good reason for playing is that you like to give 50% of your money to good causes. Unfortunately 20% of your money goes in administration costs. Can anyone give me a good reason for playing these games?

Lotteries with bigger prizes are different. Well, some lotteries with bigger prizes are different, not all. Fixed prizes are bad news but pari-mutuel prizes with rollovers give lottery players a glimmer of hope.

Syndicates claim to increase your chance of winning. This is true but what they often fail to point out that you will win much smaller amounts. Statistically syndicates reduce your winning chance because they are taking some of your stake as commission.

Wheeling systems are also promoted as a "better" way to play the lottery. This is also a fallacy. Wheeling only increases your chance of winning to the extent that it encourages you to buy more tickets.

When you play, what you play and how you play are vitally important yet millions of players are getting it wrong. My research has shown that 97.5% of lottery players are making bad mistakes. This amounts to 140 million in the USA alone.

Even worse are those unfortunate people who have paid good money to get advice on how to pick winning lottery numbers. By all means pay for advice on how to pick numbers that can lead to bigger prizes. However if anyone tells you that improve your chances of winning, be assured that they are misleading you. Remember you can improve the chance of bigger winnings but you cannot improve the chance of your numbers coming up.
